What are Sisterlocks™?

Sisterlocks™ is a natural hair management system that allows women with tightly textured hair to take advantage of a wide range of today's hairstyles without having to alter the natural texture of their hair. Pioneered by Dr. JoAnne Cornwell, the Sisterlocks company was founded in 1993. Sisterlocks invites women who are interested in self-empowerment and cultural self expression, to embrace a natural hair care system that is self-affirming and truly gorgeous. The company motto says it all: “Sisterlocks is not about a hairstyle, it’s about a lifestyle.” Sisterlocks™ are small/micro locks that naturally lock from the tip of the hair to the base of the scalp. They are maintainted with a tool to avoid the need for using products on the hair that can cause build up and attract lint. The size of the locks and careful parting pattern allow for maximum flexibility in styling the natural hair without the use of chemicals and relaxers.
